Cincinnati Reds Vs Pittsburgh Pirates Game Delay

CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Cincinnati Reds’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates scheduled for Thursday has been delayed due to inclement weather. Originally set to start at 12:40 p.m. ET, the new first pitch is now planned for 2 p.m. ET.

A steady rain impacted the area overnight, but while it is moving out, some scattered showers are expected to linger throughout the day. Forecasters suggest there may still be a brief downpour possible as the day continues.

The Reds enter this matchup trailing the New York Mets by one game in the tight Wild Card race. Their playoff hopes are on the line as they have lost the last two games to the Pirates, dropping to 4-3 in a recent extra-inning game.

In that April 24 game, the Reds’ catcher Tyler Stephenson tied the game with a solo home run in the ninth inning. Although they rallied back to tie again in the tenth, the Pirates eventually took the lead with an 11th-inning RBI double by Spencer Horwitz, sealing Cincinnati’s second consecutive defeat.

As they prepare to take the field, the Reds look to Nick Lodolo to start the game. Lodolo has been solid this season, holding a 3.44 ERA over 149.1 innings. However, the Reds have only won one of his last four outings.

The Pirates will counter with Braxton Ashcraft as they look to continue their winning momentum against Cincinnati.

Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on the weather updates as any further delays could affect the game start time, but excitement remains high as the Reds push for a playoff spot.
