Reed Bailey Commits to Indiana After Stellar Season at Davidson

Bloomington, Indiana – Reed Bailey, a standout forward from Davidson College, announced his commitment to Indiana University on Sunday. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound player boasts one season of NCAA eligibility remaining and is expected to make a significant impact on the Hoosiers’ roster.
Bailey had an impressive run last season at Davidson, averaging 18.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game over 33 games. His performance earned him spots on the Atlantic 10 First Team and the conference’s Most Improved Player award.
“I’m excited to join Indiana’s basketball program and compete at a high level,” Bailey said in a statement. “I believe this is the right fit for me and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success.”
During his junior season, Bailey led the Atlantic 10 Conference in both free throws made and attempted. He shot 47.9 percent on two-point attempts, 41.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free-throw line. That shooting ability combined with his high usage rate, ranked first in the conference, makes him a formidable threat on both ends of the court.
Bailey’s statistical prowess was evident in his consistent scoring. He recorded two games with 30 or more points, and managed to score double figures in 28 games last season. Notably, he set a career-high with 32 points during a victory against Richmond in February.
Bailey’s journey to this point began at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, where he served as team captain. He was initially rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, ranking No. 188 in the 2022 recruiting class. His high school experience laid the foundation for his impressive collegiate career.
In addition to his scoring ability, Bailey’s versatility is highlighted by his contributions as a passer. He averaged an assist rate of 27.3 percent during league games, showcasing his capability to facilitate the offense.
Indiana recently hired Darian DeVries as their head coach, and Bailey’s commitment marks the third transfer addition for the program this offseason. With Bailey on board, along with fellow transfers Tucker DeVries and Conor Enright, Indiana aims to bolster its frontcourt for the upcoming season.
Looking ahead, Bailey’s addition positions him as a likely starter, integrating him into a potential lineup that could significantly enhance Indiana’s competitiveness in the Big Ten Conference.
Bailey joins a roster that recently finished the season with a 19-13 record, and the team looks to build on its foundation with new talent as they approach the next campaign.
