Long-time TSN personality and SportsCentre host Darren Dutchyshen tragically passed away at the age of 57, leaving a lasting impact on Canadian sports broadcasting.

Stewart Johnston, Senior Vice President of Sales & Sports at Bell Media, acknowledged Dutchyshen as a legend in the industry, praising his incredible sense of humor and magnetic energy that endeared him to viewers.

A mainstay on TSN for over three decades, Dutchyshen began his career hosting SportsDesk and CFL Live before becoming a beloved face on SPORTSCENTRE, where he charmed audiences with his co-anchors Rod Smith and later Jennifer Hedger.

Dutchyshen’s influence extended beyond the studio; he hosted the Kraft Celebration Tour, journeying across Canada with SPORTSCENTRE, and co-hosted In This Corner with boxing expert Russ Anber. He was also a fixture on Olympic Prime Time during the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Games.

Originally from Regina and raised in Porcupine Plain, Sask., Dutchyshen kicked off his broadcasting career at STV in Saskatoon, followed by IMTV in Dauphin, Man. He then spent seven years hosting Sports Night in Edmonton.
