Renegades Seek Second Win Against Roughnecks in 2025 UFL Showdown

ARLINGTON, Texas — The United Football League (UFL) enters its second week with an exciting matchup as the Arlington Renegades (1-0) host the Houston Roughnecks (0-1) at Choctaw Stadium on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at noon ET.

The Renegades are riding high after their impressive 33-9 victory over the San Antonio Brahmas in Week 1, while the Roughnecks are looking to bounce back from a challenging 31-6 loss against the St. Louis Battlehawks.

In their victory last week, Arlington showcased a dominant run game, amassing 183 rushing yards and scoring four touchdowns. Running back Kalen Ballage stood out, rushing for 110 yards on just nine carries, including a remarkable 77-yard touchdown run.

“We were able to establish the run and control the game,” Ballage said. “Our offensive line did a great job opening up lanes, and I was just able to find them.”

On the other hand, Houston struggled significantly in their opener, managing only six points. Wide receiver Justin Hall was a bright spot, recording five catches for 40 yards and the team’s sole touchdown.

Head coach Curtis Johnson will need to make adjustments if the Roughnecks hope to turn their fortunes around. The team committed two turnovers and could only muster 170 total yards of offense in their loss.

“We have a lot to improve on, especially with ball security and execution,” Johnson acknowledged after the defeat. “We need to come out strong and reclaim our confidence in Arlington.”

This matchup marks the second consecutive week Arlington faces an in-state rival, having played against San Antonio just a week prior. In their previous encounter last season, Houston defeated Arlington 17-9, limiting the Renegades to a mere 193 total yards.
