Reservation Dogs Star Defends Co Star After Controversial Remarks On Killers Of The Flower Moon

Reservation Dogs star Echo star‘s recent comments on Martin Scorsese‘s film, Killers of the Flower Moon, have ignited a debate. The Golden Globe winner, who plays Mollie Burkhart in the movie, defended her co-star’s right to express her opinion. Jacobs had described watching the film as a traumatizing experience, filled with graphic portrayals of the horrific murders of Osage people.

As a fellow Native woman, Gladstone understands the trauma that Native women feel when watching such depictions for the first time. She empathizes with Jacobs and does not want to bring any negative attention to her. Gladstone emphasizes that the Osage people have lived with this history and it is ultimately their reaction that matters most.

While some praised the film for its Indigenous representation, others, including language consultant Christopher Cote, expressed their disappointment. Cote believed that the perspective of the film should have been from Mollie Burkhart’s point of view, as it was her family that suffered the atrocities. Despite this criticism, Gladstone commends her co-star Jacobs for her acting in the film and even calls for her to receive an Oscar.

Reservation Dogs star Lily Gladstone acknowledges the triggers brought up by the film’s portrayal of the violent history but appreciates that it didn’t glamorize the violence. She believes that it struck a balance between realism and gratuitousness, which many people appreciated.

Gladstone’s performance in Killers of the Flower Moon has garnered her recognition, including a Golden Globe win, and she is expected to be an Oscars nominee.
