Rising Star County Chooses UConn for College Basketball Journey

STORRS, Conn. — Four-star senior guard County has officially committed to the University of Connecticut, choosing the Huskies over schools like Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas.
County made his decision known on Thursday, following his final visit to UConn last weekend. He expressed excitement about the opportunity to develop under coach Dan Hurley.
“It was the feeling I got while watching practice, talking to coach Hurley, and going around campus,” County told ESPN. “I believe I’ll be able to develop and grow into the best version of myself while I’m there.”
The 6-foot-4 combo guard from Wasatch Academy in Utah ranks as the No. 4 shooting guard in the 2026 class and the No. 43 player overall in the SC Next 100.
Last spring and summer, County showcased his scoring versatility in the Nike EYBL circuit, averaging 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He had notable performances, including two games with 20 points and multiple games with impressive three-point shooting.
“I think I’ll be able to make winning plays on both ends of the floor,” he stated. “They see me being able to make those winning plays on and off the ball.”
This commitment marks Hurley’s first for the 2026 class and follows a successful recruitment period in 2025, where he secured two top-25 recruits. The Huskies have consistently ranked in the top-10 for the past three recruiting classes, winning two national championships between them.
