Robert Pattinson Eyeing Villeneuve’s Dune 3 Role Amid Exciting Developments

LOS ANGELES, California — As Denis Villeneuve finalizes the script for the next installment of the Dune franchise, sources suggest that Robert Pattinson is a strong contender for a new role in the film. While no formal offer has been made yet, industry insiders indicate that Pattinson is interested in joining the all-star cast.
The film’s existing lineup features big names such as Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh, both of whom are expected to return. However, several new roles are still available, and as is customary with the Dune project, numerous stars are eager to be part of this acclaimed film series.
According to reports, Pattinson is being considered for the character of Scytale, presumed to be the movie’s main antagonist. As the production gears up, filming is slated to begin this summer, with Villeneuve at the helm once again.
Dune is an expansive science fiction franchise developed by Legendary Entertainment, based on Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novels. The series has thus far included two films: 2021’s Dune: Part One and 2022’s Dune: Part Two, which collectively grossed over $1.12 billion worldwide and won a total of eight Academy Awards from 15 nominations, including two for Best Picture.
Additionally, the Dune universe has recently expanded with the prequel television series Dune: Prophecy, which debuted on HBO and Max in November to positive reviews. The series, set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, showcases new storytelling possibilities within this rich narrative framework.
Pattinson, well known for his leading role in The Batman, has been busy with multiple projects. He recently completed filming for A24’s The Drama alongside Dune co-star Zendaya and Lynne Ramsay’s film Die, My Love, featuring Jennifer Lawrence. Currently, he’s working on Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey and producing the A24 film Primetime.
Pattinson is represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group, and attorney Robert Offer.
