Roberto Romero Mma Fight Preparation

Kansas City, Missouri — Mexican featherweight Roberto Romero is set to compete in the UFC on April 26, 2025, against Timmy Cuamba. Romero, 25, will step back into the cage after a strong training camp, ready to showcase his skills.

This fight comes after a previous bout was postponed, giving Romero extra time to prepare. He is excited about the opportunity and feels well-prepared this time around.

“Honestly, I’ve been feeling very good in this camp,” said Romero. “I’ve been having my training, it’s been going well.” His previous fight at UFC 309 was a last-minute arrangement, but this time he has the preparation he believes is necessary to succeed.

Romero’s journey to the UFC began with a call in November 2024, when he was invited to fight David Onama on short notice. Despite the lack of preparation, Romero was determined to prove himself, stating, “I really believed that if God is going to give me something, it’s because I really deserve it.”

In his debut, Romero faced a tough challenge but managed to drop Onama early in the fight. However, he lost the bout by unanimous decision, leaving him with lessons learned. “I think if I just keep punching him, maybe I could end the fight, but it didn’t happen,” he said, reflecting on the experience.

Since then, Romero has been focused on improving, noting, “I know I could win the fight, too, on that night, but it didn’t happen. So the only thing that I can do now is just learn from that.” With a full training camp ahead of the fight against Cuamba, Romero feels confident.

Proud to represent Mexico, Romero views his career as a way to honor his heritage. “When I carry my flag, I feel like I’m carrying all my people,” he said. “I really feel proud of that.”

The UFC card will be held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, starting with prelims at 6 p.m. ET and the main card at 9 p.m. ET.
