Timberwolves Vs. Rockets February 2025

HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Rockets secured a narrow 121-115 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 21, 2025, in a tense NBA matchup at the Toyota Center. With the game on the line, Houston’s balanced offensive and defensive strategies proved decisive.

The matchup unfolded with initial momentum favoring the Rockets, who dominated the first half thanks to strong performances from Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun. By halftime, the Rockets held a 62-54 lead over the Timberwolves, showcasing their superiority in rebounding and three-point shooting.

In the second half, the Timberwolves mounted a comeback effort, fueled by Anthony Edwards‘ scoring ability and Mike Conley’s playmaking. However, missed opportunities at the basket and poor shooting from beyond the arc hampered their efforts.

“We fought hard and kept our composure even when we were down,” Rockets head coach Stephen Silas said after the game. “Our guys executed the plan well when it mattered most.”

The fourth quarter saw intense exchanges between both teams, with the Timberwolves cutting the lead to just three points late in the game. But crucial baskets from Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson helped the Rockets keep their lead intact.

“We made some key shots in the clutch, and it made all the difference,” Thompson stated. He finished the game contributing 15 points and seven assists. “Every possession counts, and I think we really showed resilience tonight.”

The Rockets maintained a 60% shooting percentage from the floor, while the Timberwolves struggled with only 43% from the field. The difference was apparent in the three-point shooting, with Houston sinking 12 three-pointers compared to Minnesota’s five.

Despite the loss, Timberwolves’ head coach Chris Finch praised his team’s effort throughout the game. “We were close, and I’m proud of how the guys battled back,” he noted. Edwards led the Timberwolves with a game-high 37 points, accompanied by a solid performance from Jaden McDaniels, who added 21 points and five rebounds.

The victory marks a critical point in the season for the Rockets as they aim to solidify their position in the playoff picture.
