Houston Rockets Vs Golden State Warriors Game 2 Playoffs

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Rockets are looking to even their playoff series against the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 on Wednesday night at Toyota Center. After a disappointing loss on Sunday, the second-seeded Rockets are eager to bounce back.

The Rockets, who secured their playoff spot through the Play-In Tournament, fell 95-85 to the seventh-seeded Warriors in Game 1. All-Star center Alperen Sengun led Houston with 26 points and nine rebounds, but the team struggled offensively, with their shooting percentage well below expectations. Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green combined for just seven field goals on 34 attempts.

“It was an offensively poor showing,” said coach Ime Udoka. “We can generate better looks and we need to make more shots.” The Rockets’ rebounding kept them in the game, as they outperformed Golden State 22-6 on offensive rebounds, a stat the team finds encouraging.

In contrast, Stephen Curry shined for the Warriors, scoring 31 points and hitting five three-pointers to secure the win. His performance, along with Jimmy Butler’s 25 points, showcased the Warriors’ playoff experience.

The stakes are high for both teams. A victory for Houston would tie the series, making it a best-of-five as the teams head to California for Game 3 on Saturday. But another loss would put the Rockets in a tough spot, needing to win at least one road game to avoid elimination.

“We’ve got to clean some things up on the offensive end,” said Jabari Smith Jr. “It’s definitely encouraging knowing we stayed close despite being down by so much.” The Rockets aim to build on their late-game performance and improve their shooting in the pivotal second game of the series.
