Colorado Rockies Game Postponed Weather

DENVER, Colo. — The Colorado Rockies‘ game against the Washington Nationals, originally scheduled for Friday night, has been postponed due to inclement weather, the team announced. The game has been rescheduled to take place as the second matchup of a split doubleheader on Sunday, April 20, at 6:10 p.m., following a 1:10 p.m. game that will be held as planned.

Fans with tickets for Friday’s game can use them for the rescheduled 6:10 p.m. game. Separate tickets are required for each of Sunday’s games. Those who purchased through the Rockies will receive an email detailing additional options for ticket holders who are unable to attend the new date.

In a related development, the Rockies also announced a schedule change for Saturday’s game against the Nationals, moving the first pitch from 1:10 p.m. to 2:10 p.m. This adjustment comes as the team attempts to improve logistics ahead of the busy weekend.

The Rockies, struggling with a 3-15 start to the season, recently made a significant change to their coaching staff. Hitting coach Hensley Meulens was let go on Thursday, replaced by former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle. Hurdle, who managed the team from 2002 to 2009 and led them to the World Series in 2007, had been serving as a special assistant to general manager Bill Schmidt since December 2021.

“We felt it was time for a change in direction with our hitting strategy,” Schmidt said regarding the coaching move. “Clint’s experience with this organization makes him an ideal fit to help our players turn things around.”

For Sunday, parking lots will open at 10:30 a.m., while Gate A and Gate E will open at 11 a.m. All other gates will open at 11:30 a.m. for the first game of the doubleheader and at 5 p.m. for the second game. Fans are encouraged to check the team’s website or call 303-ROCKIES (303-762-5437) for any further questions regarding ticketing and attendance.
