Roma Faces Parma Seeking Critical Points in Serie A
MILANO, Italy (AP) β AS Roma will host Parma at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening, aiming for three crucial points to keep pace with Napoli at the top of the Serie A table.
Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has made significant adjustments to his lineup. Goalkeeper Mile Svilar will start, supported by a defensive trio of Mario Hermoso, Gianluca Mancini, and Evan Ndicka. In midfield, Moustapha KonΓ© and Bryan Cristante will partner together, while defenders Zeki Celik and Ridwan Wesley are expected to provide width on the flanks. The attacking section will feature players MatΓas SoulΓ© and Paulo Dybala supporting forward Oli Ferguson.
On the other side, Parmaβs coach Carlos Cuesta has chosen a 4-4-2 formation, with Yoshiro Suzuki in goal and a defensive line of Lorenzo Delprato, Edoardo Circati, Gianmarco Valenti, and Raphael Britschgi. Nahuel EstΓ©vez and Gabriel BernabΓ© will guard the midfield, while lateral support comes from Santiago Ordonez and Mathias Sorensen. Upfront, the duo of Patrick Cutrone and Antonio Pellegrino looks to challenge Romaβs defense.
This matchup is significant for Roma, who have won 35 out of 56 previous Serie A encounters against Parma. The last time the two sides faced off was on February 15, 2015, and the last time the teams met at the Olimpico, it ended with a 5-0 victory for Roma.
Recent statistics show Parma has struggled offensively, failing to score in their last two matches, while Roma aims to bounce back after losing three consecutive home games for the first time since 2011. Gasperini is optimistic about his teamβs prospects as they look to capitalize on home advantage.
The match is set to kick off at 18:30 local time, with televised coverage available on multiple channels including Sport Calcio and streaming on SkyGo.
