BROOKLYN, N.Y. — As Sam Gold‘s adaptation of *Romeo and Juliet* enters its final 16 performances, the close-knit cast, led by Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, reflects on the camaraderie that has defined their time together. The production, which has captivated audiences with its fresh take on Shakespeare‘s classic, will conclude its run this month.

“We would have lunch together every day. We were working in Brooklyn at the rehearsal studio,” Connor said in an interview late last year. “We’d all go to Whole Foods, get our lunch, and come back to eat together. And it was just the bits, the bits began. We love the bits.” Zegler echoed the sentiment, adding, “We are all crammed in there, but it is, I’ve never laughed harder in my life, genuinely. It’s just so much fun.”

Photographer Emilio Madrid captured the cast’s chemistry backstage during a recent performance, showcasing their playful interactions and dedication to their roles. The images reveal the cast helping each other settle into character, joking around on set, and fully immersing themselves in the production.

“I think the chemistry spills out into the show and into the performance,” Connor told *Teen Vogue*. The bond among the cast members, including Tommy Dorfman, Gabby Beans, and Nihar Duvvuri, has been a defining feature of the revival, enhancing the emotional depth of the play.

With only 16 shows remaining, tickets are in high demand as audiences rush to experience the magic of this exhilarating adaptation. The production has been praised for its innovative staging and the raw energy brought by its young, talented cast.

As the curtain prepares to fall on this chapter, the cast is savoring their final moments together. “It’s been an incredible journey,” Zegler said. “We’ve become a family, and that’s something I’ll always treasure.”
