Ronaldo Suspended for Alleged Offensive Gesture During Saudi Pro League Game
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, has been suspended for one match following an alleged offensive gesture made during a recent game against Al-Shabab.
After Al Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab in Riyadh, video footage surfaced showing Ronaldo making a gesture towards the opposing fans, which led to the suspension decision by the Saudi Arabia Football Federation (SAFF) committee.
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of SAFF imposed the one-match ban and a fine on Ronaldo, who will miss Al Nassr’s upcoming match against Al-Hazem.
Ronaldo, a former player of Real Madrid and Manchester United, has also been ordered to pay monetary fines to Al-Shabab and the federation, totaling 20,000 Saudi Riyals.
Previous incidents involving Ronaldo, including a similar controversy last April against Al Hilal, have contributed to the scrutiny surrounding the player’s behavior during matches.
Despite the suspension, Ronaldo, leading with 22 goals in the league, remains a key player for Al Nassr as they pursue success in the Asian Champions League quarterfinals.
