Ronda Rousey Critiques MMA Fans and Joe Rogan in New Podcast Interview
LOS ANGELES, CA – Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey recently criticized MMA fans and commentator Joe Rogan during an interview with comedian Bert Kreischer on his podcast.
Rousey, who is also a WWE star, expressed her frustration with mixed martial arts fans. “MMA fans and media are the most what have you done lately for us crowd of any sport,” she said. She contrasted this with WWE fans, who she believes show more respect for their legends.
Rousey argued that in MMA, fighters lose their status quickly after defeats. She cited examples like Chuck Liddell and Anderson Silva, stating, “The second they lose, everyone turns on them.” She feels this pressure encourages fighters to retire at their peak instead of giving younger talent a chance.
During the conversation, Kreischer joked about pricing for a potential fight with Rousey, who humorously suggested he would have to train hard for it. The discussion took a more serious turn when Rousey addressed Rogan’s commentary on her career.
“He’s not an expert. He’s a fan with an audience. Never fought… taekwondo is not fighting,” Rousey said, making it clear that she believes Rogan lacks the depth of understanding needed to critique professional fighters.
Rousey’s relationship with Rogan has appeared strained since her losses to Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm. She claimed that during her decline, commentators turned against her.
In addition to her MMA achievements, Rousey won an Olympic bronze medal in judo and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018. She has also found success in WWE, becoming a three-time women’s champion.
Rousey’s comments highlight her ongoing tension with the MMA community and her views on the sport’s fan culture. Her criticism raises questions about how athletes are perceived after they no longer dominate their fields.
