WASHINGTON, D.C. — Phoenix Suns rookie Ryan Dunn delivered a standout performance Thursday night, recording his first career double-double in a 130-123 victory over the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena. The 22-year-old forward posted career-highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds, showcasing his growing impact on both ends of the court.

Dunn, the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has quickly become a key contributor for the Suns. Against the Wizards, he shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, while adding one assist and one block. His previous career-highs were 16 points and six rebounds, set earlier in the season.

“It’s great,” Dunn told Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. “A career-high in everything. Just give glory to God to come out and compete. Trying to step up and get a bounce-back win after Atlanta. It was good having this win and on to the next one.”

The rookie’s performance came after a conversation with Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer about improving his rebounding. Dunn had managed just one rebound in a 122-117 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. “That’s kinda something me and Bud talked about. Crashing the offensive glass, trying to get rebounds,” Dunn said. “Having more rebounds is not new to me, and something I should be doing for this team.”

Dunn has started at small forward in place of Bradley Beal, and his offensive output has steadily improved. Over the past four games, he has demonstrated his ability to score and defend against some of the league’s top players. In seven of his last 10 games, Dunn has scored in double figures, helping the Suns maintain a 20-20 record as they push for a play-in spot.

With the season nearing its halfway mark, Dunn’s two-way versatility will be crucial for Phoenix. His ability to contribute on both offense and defense has made him an invaluable asset to the team as they aim to climb the Western Conference standings.
