Rory Mcilroy Dp World India Championship

NEW DELHI, India — Rory McIlroy is set to make his debut in India at the inaugural DP World India Championship, scheduled to take place from October 16-19 at the Delhi Golf Club. The reigning Masters champion expressed his excitement about this milestone in a statement.

“I’m excited to not only tee it up in India for the first time but also visit a country that I’ve always wanted to explore,” McIlroy said. He emphasized his pride in participating in this new event, adding that golf has great potential for growth in India.

McIlroy, a five-time major winner, sees this event as a chance to connect with Indian golf fans. “This is a great opportunity, and I can’t wait to play in front of Indian golf fans,” he remarked.

This announcement follows McIlroy’s recent commitment to the Australian Open, marking his return to the tournament for the first time in 11 years, scheduled for December 4-7 at Royal Melbourne. He is also set to compete in the Canadian Open in June and is preparing for the U.S. Open at Oakmont later this year.

After a disappointing finish in his last tournament at the U.S. PGA Championship, where he tied for 47th, McIlroy is eager to regain his competitive edge at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio on May 29.

McIlroy’s participation in the DP World India Championship highlights his commitment to expanding his global presence in the sport. This will be McIlroy’s 29th country as a professional golfer, and he hopes to further promote golf within India.
