AUGUSTA, Ga. — Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll, a couple who have navigated the highs and lows of love within the competitive golf world, are set to showcase their enduring bond during the 2025 Masters Tournament.

The couple’s journey began in 2012 when Stoll, then a PGA transport official, met McIlroy while ensuring he made it to his tee time after he overslept. Their friendship blossomed, leading to an engagement in 2015 and a wedding two years later at Ireland’s stunning Ashford Castle.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Poppy Kennedy, in August 2020. However, in May 2024, McIlroy filed for divorce just days after winning the Wells Fargo Championship. Although the couple faced rumors and speculation regarding their separation, court records indicated a closure of the case shortly thereafter.

In a recent statement to The Guardian, McIlroy addressed the rumors swirling around their personal lives. “There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning,” he said.

As the couple prepares for the Masters, their daughter Poppy showcased her own golfing promise during the traditional Par 3 contest, sinking a long putt that drew cheers from the crowd. McIlroy expressed his joy, saying, “It’s amazing that I can share these things with her and with Erica.”

The 2025 Masters represents more than just a prestigious golf tournament for McIlroy. It could mark an end to his 11-year major championship drought, something he has expressed a deep desire to accomplish. He enters the tournament having performed well in the current season, winning both The Players Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
