Rory McIlroy Seeks Redemption at Travelers Championship This Week

HARTFORD, Connecticut — Rory McIlroy aims to regain his early-season form at the 2025 Travelers Championship, which begins Thursday, June 19. The tournament features numerous top golfers competing at TPC River Highlands.
McIlroy, currently ranked World No. 2, started the season strong with victories at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship. However, his performance has declined in recent months. After finishing tied for 47th at the PGA Championship and missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, he struggled again during last week’s U.S. Open.
“It’s frustrating not being able to perform like I know I can,” McIlroy said in a recent interview. “But I’m looking forward to this week and trying to put things back on track.”
The 2025 Travelers Championship is noteworthy as it is the last elevated event of the year. Experts have highlighted potential sleeper picks for the tournament, mentioning players like Jordan Spieth and McIlroy.
McIlroy’s opening round is scheduled for 10:35 a.m. ET, where he will tee off alongside U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley. The tournament, featuring a $20 million purse, runs through June 22.
Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will also be competing. He is expected to make a statement alongside J.J. Spaun at 1:45 p.m. EDT. Golf enthusiasts can watch the tournament live on the Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. ET or stream it on ESPN+ from 7:30 a.m. ET.
With the top players in the field, the Travelers Championship promises an exciting competition as golfers vie for the title.
