Royal Challengers Bengaluru Sign Phil Salt for Rs 11.50 Crore in IPL 2025 Auction
In a significant move during the IPL 2025 mega auction held on Sunday, November 24, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured the services of English wicket-keeper batter Phil Salt for a substantial amount of Rs 11.50 crore. This acquisition is seen as a strategic move to bolster RCB’s batting lineup for the upcoming season.
The auction, which took place in Jeddah, saw intense bidding for Salt, with RCB eventually outbidding other teams, including the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to secure the English player. Salt is expected to play a crucial role in RCB’s team, potentially partnering with veteran batsman Virat Kohli.
Alongside Phil Salt, RCB also made other notable purchases, including English all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. Jitesh Sharma, an Indian wicket-keeper batter, was also acquired by RCB for Rs 11 crore. These signings indicate RCB’s aggressive approach to building a strong squad for the IPL 2025 season.
Phil Salt’s inclusion is particularly noteworthy given his versatility as both a wicket-keeper and a batter, which could provide RCB with valuable options in their batting order and behind the stumps.
