Ruben Amorim Takes the Helm at Manchester United: Early Impressions and Challenges

According to Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Amorim’s coaching style is “strict and direct.” Fernandes, who has had limited time to work with Amorim due to international duties, highlighted the intensity and communication that Amorim brings to the training sessions. “It’s still the beginning but obviously you can see already what he’s about, how much intensity he wants to put in every training session. But then him and his staff are really strict, but at the same time open,” Fernandes said.

Amorim faces significant challenges as he takes over a team that is currently in 13th place in the Premier League with only four wins from their first 11 games. Despite the tight league table, where Manchester United is just four points shy of the top four, the pressure to perform is high. Amorim has emphasized the need to win games and titles, a sentiment echoed by Fernandes, who noted that patience is a luxury that does not exist in football.

In his first press conference, Amorim underscored his commitment to winning and his willingness to be ruthless when necessary. He mentioned that while he can be a positive and understanding person, he will not hesitate to show a tougher side if it benefits the team. “I can be ruthless when I have to be,” Amorim stated, highlighting the balance between being a positive influence and a demanding coach.

Amorim is expected to implement his 3-4-3 system, despite the limited preparation time. This tactical approach, along with his emphasis on communication and intensity, will be crucial as Manchester United seeks to redefine its identity and achieve positive results under his leadership.
