Rudy Gobert Shares Special Day with Son Amid Breakup Drama

Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert shared a glimpse of quality time with his 1-year-old son, Romeo, on social media, describing it as a “great day.” The post came just as the Timberwolves prepare for the upcoming Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Gobert, 32, posted a photo on Sunday, May 18, showing himself shirtless as Romeo climbed on him during their sunny outing. The NBA star added prayer hands and sun emojis to his post, signaling his happiness during a challenging time.
This cheerful moment follows reports of Gobert’s breakup with his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, 25. The former couple, who initially lived together, separated just as the NBA playoffs began in April. Bonilla is currently expecting their second child.
In Bonilla’s statement shared on social media, she described the split as one of the most painful experiences of her life. She expressed feelings of isolation and emphasized her commitment to their family, stating, “I considered Rudy the love of my life… I have NEVER EVER been unfaithful to the father of my children.”
Gobert responded to the turmoil by stating there was “a lot of inaccurate information” circulating regarding their breakup. He emphasized the importance of co-parenting and his ongoing commitment to his children, saying, “Being a father is one of the most profound and meaningful experiences I will get to live.”
The Minnesota center’s breakup has garnered attention, particularly as he navigates the pressures of playoff basketball. While Bonilla has talked about her struggles, Gobert is focused on maintaining his family responsibilities. “I’m fully committed to keep supporting the well-being of all the people that I care about,” he concluded.
The Timberwolves are set to face the Thunder on Tuesday, May 20, in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
