Rugby Star Billy Vunipola Arrested in Spain After Bar Incident
England and Saracens rugby player Billy Vunipola was arrested in Mallorca, Spain, following an incident at Epic bar in Palma, Europe. According to reports, Vunipola, known for his prowess on the field, was involved in a violent episode, prompting police intervention.
Standing at 6ft 2in and weighing over 20 stone, Vunipola allegedly became aggressive at the bar, leading to the police being called. Despite being tasered twice, he was only subdued after the second attempt, then taken to Son Espases Hospital for assessment.
Appearing in court later, Vunipola was released on bail pending further investigation. Saracens, his club team, responded with a brief statement saying they are aware of the incident and will address it internally.
Born in Australia to Tongan parents, Vunipola moved to Wales in his childhood and later earned a scholarship to Harrow School before embarking on his professional rugby career with Wasps and Saracens. Representing England in 75 caps, he played a significant role in international competitions like the Rugby World Cup.
Vunipola’s off-field challenges have been well-documented, with incidents involving alcohol and disobedience. His move to France-based Montpellier will likely mark the end of his England career, as per the rules regarding Europe-based players’ eligibility.
