Ryan Fitzpatrick Reflects on Bills’ Playoff Hype and Game Strategy
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, known for his iconic beard and chest hair, returned to Highmark Stadium as the team’s Legend of the Game ahead of their NFL playoff matchup. Fitzpatrick, who played for the Bills from 2009 to 2012, shared insights on the team’s current season, playoff expectations, and strategies to counter star running back Derrick Henry.
“It’s cold,” Fitzpatrick shouted to the crowd during his appearance Sunday night. “It’s Buffalo weather. Let’s go.” The 41-year-old quarterback, who threw for 11,654 yards and 80 touchdowns during his tenure with the Bills, remains a fan favorite in Western New York.
Fitzpatrick praised the Bills’ offensive chemistry under interim coordinator Joe Brady and quarterback Josh Allen. “The connection between Joe and Josh has been incredible,” he said. “You can see the trust and the way the offense has evolved this season.”
When asked about the game plan for the upcoming playoff matchup, Fitzpatrick emphasized the importance of containing Derrick Henry, the Tennessee Titans‘ powerhouse running back. “You have to be physical and disciplined,” he said. “Derrick Henry is a game-changer, but this Bills defense has the tools to slow him down.”
Fitzpatrick also reflected on the changes he has observed in the Bills organization since his playing days. “The culture here is different now,” he noted. “The expectations are higher, and the team is built for sustained success. It’s exciting to see.”
As for his final prediction, Fitzpatrick remained optimistic about the Bills’ chances. “This team has the talent and the mindset to make a deep playoff run,” he said. “I’m rooting for them all the way.”
