Buffalo Sabres Vs Boston Bruins Hockey Game

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Sabres will embark on a challenging four-game road trip starting Monday against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden, hoping to build on recent home success.

The Sabres, fresh off a two-game home winning streak, are looking for their first road victory since January following a disappointing 7-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings last Wednesday. In that game, Buffalo allowed three unanswered goals, a point that coach Lindy Ruff is emphasizing for improvement.

“The Detroit game was not good in any sense. We’ve got to simplify our game, take care of the puck better, and stay out of the penalty box on the road,” Ruff said.

The Sabres are currently 9-20-3 away from their home rink this season, a stark contrast to their 17-13-3 record at KeyBank Center. Ruff highlighted the need for consistency in their performance, particularly when playing against formidable teams like the Bruins.

“We’ve played better defensively at home and we’ve got to take that on the road with us,” Ruff added. “Keep it simple, manage the puck, and look for opportunities.”

The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. on MSG.

In terms of lineup changes, JJ Peterka remains out with a lower-body injury, while Josh Norris (undisclosed) and Jiri Kulich (concussion) are also sidelined. Brett Murray is expected to make his season debut after being recalled from Rochester, where he ranked second on the Amerks with 23 goals in 55 games.

“He’s been really good down there, especially around the net,” Ruff said of Murray. “He deserves a look.”

Looking back at the recent games, Tage Thompson has been a vital asset for the Sabres, tying for fourth in the NHL with 33 goals this season. He has scored five goals in his last five games, highlighting his offensive prowess as the team prepares for Boston.

“We have to keep building momentum, especially against experienced teams like the Bruins. Our top players need to continue stepping up and drive our play,” Thompson stated.

The Sabres have a storied rivalry with the Bruins, having lost the season series thus far. With a playoff push on the line, the team will strive to turn their road performance around, starting with tonight’s match.

The matchup will also serve as a key moment for Buffalo, looking to solidify their position amidst a competitive Eastern Conference playoff race.
