SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings officially converted rookie center Isaac Jones from a two-way contract to a standard two-year NBA contract on March 22, 2025, according to multiple sources including Shams Charania of ESPN.

Jones, a 24-year-old from Washington State, reached his maximum limit of 50 active games for the season during a recent victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite his effective performance, which included an average of 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds in just over eight minutes per game, Jones was rendering inactive due to the restrictions of his previous contract.

“This is a big step for Isaac and our organization,” Kings interim coach said. “He has worked hard this season, and we believe he can contribute more as we head into the postseason.”

With Jones now officially on a standard deal, he is eligible to participate in the upcoming games, including tonight’s matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, assuming the paperwork finalizes on time.

Jones initially signed a two-way contract with the Kings in July after going undrafted. During his season, he showcased his interior skills while averaging 67.6% shooting from the field. His efficient scoring included converting 78.8% of his shots within three feet of the basket, with a notable proportion being dunks.

“I’ve just been focusing on my game and doing what the coaches ask of me,” Jones said. “Now, I get a chance to show what I can do at a higher level, and I’m excited for the opportunity.”

The Kings, currently positioned ninth in the Western Conference with a record of 35-34, are navigating a roster crunch as they attempt to solidify their playoff hopes. Jones’s promotion comes at a crucial time, especially with starting center Domantas Sabonis sidelined due to an ankle sprain.

The team has an open roster spot following Jones’s promotion and the expiration of a 10-day contract for another player. As the regular season progresses, the Kings may look to add further depth as they seek to make a playoff push.

“We’re staying flexible,” said Kings general manager. “If there are opportunities to improve our team, we will certainly consider our options.”

This season has marked a turnaround for the Kings, who are looking to build on their success by potentially entering the postseason with a bolstered roster.
