Safety Juan Thornhill Signs One-Year Deal Following Browns Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Safety Juan Thornhill has agreed to a one-year contract with the NFL team, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday.
This decision comes after the Cleveland Browns released Thornhill earlier this offseason, ahead of the final year of a three-year, $21 million deal he signed in 2023. During his time with the Browns, Thornhill faced challenges with injuries, appearing in only 11 games in each of the past two seasons.
In the 2024 season, Thornhill’s playing time diminished significantly as he shared responsibilities with another safety, resulting in a career-low mark of 57% of the team’s defensive snaps.
Throughout his tenure in Cleveland, Thornhill accumulated 103 tackles and had four pass breakups. Drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, he spent the initial four years of his professional career with the team, where he started 52 games. In total, the 29-year-old boasts a career record of eight interceptions, 24 passes defended, and 337 tackles over six NFL seasons.
The news of Thornhill’s new agreement was initially reported by NFL Network. ESPN’s Brooke Pryor and Daniel Oyefusi contributed to this report.
