La Salle Women’s Basketball Secures Thrilling Comeback Victory Over Rider
In a nail-biting matchup, the La Salle women’s basketball team pulled off a dramatic comeback victory against the Rider Broncs, winning 55-54. The game, played on November 20, saw the Explorers overcome a significant deficit to secure their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-3.
The game was marked by intense back-and-forth action, with both teams exchanging three-point baskets early on. La Salle’s Ashleigh Connor had a standout performance, scoring 20 points and drawing 10 fouls, including the crucial game-winning foul late in the game. Connor’s two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining on the clock sealed the victory for the Explorers.
Despite trailing for much of the game, La Salle managed to stay within striking distance. In the third quarter, Ty’Renisha Bowers’ three-point shot and Mackenzie Daleba’s late three-pointer helped narrow the gap. Daleba also contributed significantly with a team-high 12 rebounds and a critical tip-in to keep La Salle in contention.
The Explorers capitalized on Rider’s 28 turnovers, converting them into 24 points. Ayisse Magassa added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Reedy Bowers set a season-high with eight points, going 3-6 from the field and 2-4 from three-point range.
La Salle will look to build on this momentum as they face the American Eagles on Saturday, November 23, in their next outing.
