SUNRISE, Fla. — Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers is making headlines after an impressive performance in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. With his recent scoring streak, he is now a leading contender for the Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded for the playoffs’ most valuable player.
Bennett, who turns 29 on June 20, has scored 14 goals in 20 playoff games, more than any other player this postseason. His four goals in the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers have fueled the Panthers to a 2-1 series lead.
His notable achievements include setting a new NHL record for road goals in a single postseason, scoring 12 to surpass the previous record of 11 set by Winnipeg’s center in 2018. Bennett is tied for the NHL lead with eight high-danger goals this postseason, demonstrating his ability to score from challenging positions.
Bennett’s all-around game is also evident as he ranks second in the NHL with 97 hits during the playoffs. His physical style, combined with impressive speed, has contributed significantly to the Panthers’ success. His average of 0.80 points per game in the Cup Final showcases his skill and importance to the team.
Teammate Marchand praised Bennett, stating, “He can do it all. He’s built for this time of year, just how competitive he is.” Marchand’s comments reflect Bennett’s impact on the ice, especially in crucial playoff moments.
In Game 3, Bennett scored his 14th goal of the postseason, reinforcing his position as the top scorer in the playoffs. “He’s been an animal this whole playoffs,” said Panthers forward Verhaeghe. “That shift was a perfect example of his game. He blows two guys up and then scores a beautiful goal.”
The Panthers now look to extend their series lead against the Oilers, with Bennett’s performance serving as a driving force in their quest for the championship.
