Sam Hauser Sets NBA Record with 10 Three-Pointers in 22-Minute Showdown against Wizards
Boston Celtics‘ sharpshooter, Sam Hauser, put on a record-setting performance against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night, narrowly missing out on making Celtics history due to an ankle injury.
Hauser, who was filling in for injured players including Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis, showcased his shooting prowess by sinking 10 three-pointers in just 22 minutes of play, securing the first 30-point game of his NBA career.
In the first half alone, Hauser equaled the Celtics’ franchise record for most three-pointers made in a half, hitting seven of his nine attempts behind the arc.
Overall, Boston set a new franchise record for most threes in a half with a remarkable 17 triples before halftime.
Hauser’s hot hand continued into the second half as he knocked down three more three-pointers; however, his stellar performance was cut short after a third-quarter injury forced him out of the game.
Although Hauser ended just one three-pointer shy of Marcus Smart‘s franchise record of 11 threes in a game, his 10 threes in under 23 minutes set a new NBA record for the fewest minutes played to achieve this feat.
The injury sidelined Hauser for the remainder of the game, but his sharpshooting helped the Celtics secure a dominant 130-104 victory over the struggling Wizards, extending their winning streak to five games.
Matthew Geagan, a veteran sports writer and producer for CBS Boston and wbz.com, provided insights into Hauser’s exceptional performance and its impact on the team.
