San Diego FC Dominates Colorado Rapids in 2-0 Victory

San Diego, California – San Diego FC secured a strong 2-0 victory against the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night at Snapdragon Stadium. This win marked an important moment as SDFC avenged their earlier loss to Colorado in April.
SDFC center back Christopher McVey scored the first goal in the 33rd minute, giving the team a 1-0 lead at halftime. SDFC’s coach, Mikey Varas, praised his players’ performance. “It’s a massive performance by the boys,” he commented. “I hope everyone is as inspired as I am by them.”
Varas noted the risk of tightening up when leading, but said his team pressed forward instead. “They went forward. They pressed. They played even more brave with the ball,” he added.
Anders Dreyer extended the lead with his sixth goal of the season in the 58th minute, when he scored after hitting the left post. “It’s always nice to be involved as an offensive player with goals and assists,” Dreyer said. “But most important to me as a footballer is playing on a successful team. We are on a good way right now.”
Goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos was crucial in preserving the clean sheet, making significant saves including a penalty kick stop in the 73rd minute. “CJ was the fireman again today,” said Varas. “He’s showing he has a really, really high level.”
After starting the season strongly, SDFC faced challenges following their loss to Colorado on April 12. The team’s morale seemed improved with this recent win, moving them into second place in the Western Conference.
Next, San Diego FC will face Sporting Kansas City at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30 PM.
