San Diego Wave FC Faces Bay FC in Key NWSL Matchup

San Diego, California — The San Diego Wave will host Bay FC on Sunday afternoon at Snapdragon Stadium as both teams strive to improve their standings in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The match is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Bay FC enters the game with a 2-2-2 record, totaling eight points. Their last outing ended in a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Reign, where Racheal Kundananji scored Bay’s only goal in the 32nd minute, giving them a brief 1-0 lead at halftime.
Despite outshooting Seattle 12-9, Bay FC managed only three shots on goal compared to the Reign’s five, leaving them frustrated as they settled for a draw. Head coach TBD stated, “We need to convert our chances into goals if we want a different outcome today.”
In contrast, the Wave are currently ahead with a 3-1-2 record, amassing 10 points. They are coming off two consecutive victories, most recently defeating the Chicago Stars 3-0. Hanna Lunddkvist opened the scoring early, and the Wave controlled the match, subduing Chicago’s efforts to respond.
San Diego looks to continue their winning streak against Bay FC, having won their last matchup 3-1 during the 2024 season. The Wave boasts nine different goal scorers so far this season, highlighting their diverse attacking capabilities.
“We are confident going into this match but know Bay FC is a tough competitor,” said Wave player Kimmi Ascanio. “We’re ready to keep our momentum going.”
