Sarah Langs Honored at 2024 All-MLB Awards Show for Her Impact on Baseball
Sarah Langs, a renowned stats guru and beloved figure in the baseball community, was honored at the 2024 All-MLB Awards Show in Las Vegas on Thursday. Langs, who has been a staple in baseball analytics and media since 2015, received a heartfelt tribute that highlighted her significant contributions to the sport.
The ceremony, held at the Chelsea Theater, was attended by MLB’s biggest stars, but it was Langs who received one of the two standing ovations of the evening, the other being for Hank Aaron‘s wife, Billye. The tribute included a five-minute video narrated by Cleveland beat reporter and Langs’ best friend, Mandy Bell. The video culminated in a live shot of Langs in the crowd, prompting a thunderous applause from the audience.
Langs, who was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 28 and publicly announced it ahead of the 2022 postseason, has become a beacon of light and positivity in the baseball world. Her dedication to providing detailed statistics and historical context has earned her over 137,000 followers on X and widespread recognition within the baseball community.
The tribute also highlighted Langs’ recent accolades, including the creation of the Sarah Langs Women in Baseball Analytics Scholarship by SABR and her receipt of the Casey Stengel “You Could Look It Up” Award. She has been honored by several Major League teams, including the Mets and Phillies, on Lou Gehrig Day.
During the event, a QR code was displayed on the screen to encourage donations to Langs’ FistBump4ALS initiative through Project ALS, reflecting the community’s ongoing support for her and her cause.
