Savannah Bananas Kick Off Season at Renovated Grayson Stadium

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah Bananas are back in action, marking their home opener on February 21, 2025, at the newly renovated historic Grayson Stadium. Fans have eagerly anticipated this event, as all tickets for the weekend games have sold out.
This home opener offers a first look at significant upgrades made to the beloved venue during the offseason. Major renovations include new turf, state-of-the-art LED lighting, and an upgraded video board, all designed to enhance the game-day experience for fans and bring Grayson Stadium’s amenities in line with much larger sports facilities.
“I’ve coached college baseball for 15 years and traveled the country, and not everyone focuses on how to make things better. There are going to be a ton of trick plays right here behind me on this turf. It’s going to be a special 2025,” said Tyler Gillum, manager of the Savannah Bananas.
The enhancements were funded by Fans First Entertainment LLC and allocated through the special-purpose local option sales tax. The excitement around the upgraded stadium reflects the team’s commitment to creating a top-tier environment for both players and fans.
The Bananas, who are currently 5-3 in their Banana Ball World Tour, have entertained over 100,000 fans in their first eight games across the southern United States. This weekend, they bring their unique blend of fun and competitive spirit back to Savannah, aiming for a successful start to their home schedule.
“There’s nothing like it,” said star catcher Bill LeRoy. “As players, it’s a dream come true to play at some major league ballparks, but nothing compares to home. Having this intimate, connected feel here in Savannah is something special.”
For the home opener, the plaza opens at 4:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch set for 7 p.m. Fans can take advantage of free food and beverages included with admission, featuring unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, and other favorites, with alcoholic drinks available for purchase.
In addition to the exciting atmosphere created by the fan-friendly new features, players emphasize the unique connection formed in such an intimate setting. “With fewer people, you can create special moments with fans,” said pitcher Kyle Luigs. “This year’s improvements, including the video board, aim to deliver a fully immersive experience for everyone.”
As anticipation builds, the Savannah Bananas are ready to put on a show and showcase the excitement of baseball in their newly upgraded home, Grayson Stadium.
