Behind the Scenes with Arber Xhekaj: Insights from Partner Stephanie Kielb
Montreal Canadiens fans are familiar with Arber Xhekaj‘s formidable presence on the ice, but a recent feature by the Canadiens’ content team provides a closer look at his life off the rink. The spotlight falls on Stephanie Kielb, Xhekaj’s girlfriend, who reveals intriguing details about the defenseman’s personal life, favorite activities, and close friendships with teammates.
Kielb and Xhekaj have known each other since their high school days in Ontario. “We’re from the same hometown and have been friends since around Grade 8,” she shared. Their relationship evolved from a close friendship within the same social group.
Kielb describes Xhekaj as a “very caring person” who is always ready to help others without hesitation. She highlights his humor, noting that “he’s a very sarcastic guy if you know him.” This wit and cheerful demeanor make him a joy to be around.
Watching Xhekaj’s rise to become a fan-favorite in Montreal has been a gratifying experience for Kielb. “He’s such a humble guy as well,” she remarked. “It was an amazing experience to be by his side through it all.”
Off the ice, Xhekaj has a penchant for working on cars, spending his free time in his workshop. “If he could be there every day, he would,” Kielb said. When it comes time for a break, however, Xhekaj prefers a calm, lowkey approach rather than high-paced action.
His fashion sense on game days has also captured fans’ attention, with bold outfits that Kielb occasionally assists in coordinating. However, she claims that Xhekaj typically takes fashion matters into his own hands. “For weekend games or any special event… he’ll go with more of a bold outfit,” she explained.
Xhekaj shares a special bond with fellow teammates Kaiden Guhle and Juraj Slafkovský, whom Kielb describes as “a bunch of goofballs” when they are together. This trio’s camaraderie is a defining aspect of Xhekaj’s social circle.
On a more personal note, Kielb jokingly reveals one of Xhekaj’s hidden talents: doing impressions. Additionally, if she had to choose a song that embodies Xhekaj’s outlook on life, she would pick “If Today Was Your Last Day” by Nickelback, reflecting his philosophy of living in the moment.
