Scottie Scheffler Masters Dinner California Wines

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The annual Masters Champions Dinner showcased the culinary preferences of its most recent winner, Scottie Scheffler, who selected a pair of award-winning California wines for the event held on April 8, 2025.

Scheffler paired his dinner choices with a 2019 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay, rated 93 points by renowned wine critic Robert Parker. The Chardonnay, produced by Boich Family Cellar in the Russian River Valley, is part of California’s prestigious winemaking region known for its volcanic soil and picturesque landscapes. The tasting notes described the wine as “full-bodied, round, and mouth-filling” with hints of white peach and citrus on the finish.

“I wanted to choose wines that paired well with the menu and showcased California’s finest,” Scheffler said during the dinner. He also highlighted his father’s influence on his culinary choices, recalling how his favorites growing up were hearty meatballs.

In addition to the Chardonnay, Scheffler served a 2011 Vineyard 7&8 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine, also from Northern California’s Spring Mountain District, is known for its intensity and rich flavor. Despite 2011 being a challenging year for Napa Valley due to weather issues, Parker’s review lauded the Cab as “rich and full-bodied,” making it a suitable choice for the evening’s festivities.

The meal included appetizers such as firecracker shrimp and cheeseburger sliders, complemented by both wines. Scheffler’s menu aimed to resonate with his Texas roots, incorporating familiar flavors and dishes.

“The camaraderie and tradition of the Champions Dinner mean a lot to me,” Scheffler added. “It’s about celebrating not just the win but the history of the tournament and the players who paved the way for us.”

Past champions, including Craig Stadler and other notable players, attended the dinner, indulging in Scheffler’s thoughtfully curated menu. The evening was both a celebration of golf’s legacy and a showcase of culinary excellence.

Alongside the meal, Scheffler delivered a brief speech acknowledging the contributions of former champions to the sport. “I just wanted to recognize the commitments they’ve made to elevate the game we all love,” he said, reflecting on the significance of the event.

As the defending champion, Scheffler is currently favored to win the Masters again, with betting odds placing him at +450. The tournament, which begins on April 10, promises to attract significant attention as he seeks to secure another green jacket.
