Scottie Scheffler At&t Pebble Beach Pro Am 2025

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer, made his 2025 season debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Tuesday, just weeks after a bizarre kitchen accident sidelined him with a hand injury. The incident occurred while Scheffler was preparing homemade ravioli during the holidays, resulting in a wine glass shattering and puncturing his right hand.

Scheffler, who missed two tournaments while recovering, described the injury as a frustrating but ultimately minor setback. “I can’t live in a bubble,” he said. “Accidents happen. It could have been a lot worse.” The injury required surgery to remove glass shards from his palm, but Scheffler has since returned to full strength, practicing in cold weather in Dallas to ensure he was ready for competition.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am marks Scheffler’s first appearance in a $20 million signature event this season. The tournament features an 80-player field, including amateur partners, with rounds played at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. Scheffler played practice rounds at both courses earlier this week, showing no signs of lingering issues from the injury.

Scheffler recounted the kitchen mishap in detail, explaining that he and his family were making ravioli from scratch at a rental house. Without proper tools, they improvised by using a wine glass to cut the dough. “I had my hand on top, and it broke,” he said. “The stem kind of got me in the hand.” He added that he has since heard numerous “horror stories” about similar wine glass injuries.

Rory McIlroy, a fellow PGA Tour star, joked about the incident, quipping, “I think he made enough money to hire a chef.” Scheffler responded with a laugh, referencing his wife, Meredith, as his personal chef. “She’s pretty cute,” he said.

Despite the injury, Scheffler remains focused on maintaining his dominant form from 2024, when he won seven PGA Tour events, including his second Masters title. “Missing those events is not fun,” he said of the tournaments he skipped during his recovery. “It was definitely still frustrating watching golf on TV and not being able to play.”

Scheffler’s return to competition comes as the PGA Tour continues its 2025 season with a stacked field at Pebble Beach. Notable absences include Xander Schauffele, who is recovering from a rib injury. However, Scheffler’s presence adds significant star power to the event, as he looks to build on his historic 2024 campaign.

As for the injury, Scheffler expressed no concerns about lingering effects. “No, not at all,” he said when asked if he was worried about his hand moving forward. With a clear bandage covering the surgical site, Scheffler is ready to resume his pursuit of golfing greatness.
