Seahawks Finalize One-Year Deal with Josh Jones

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks have secured a one-year contract with offensive lineman Josh Jones, valued at up to $4.75 million, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The agreement marks Jones’ transition to Seattle as the team’s first free-agent signing this offseason.

Jones, 27, was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After three seasons in Arizona, he was traded to the Houston Texans, where he played one season before spending last year with the Baltimore Ravens.

During the 2024 season, Jones appeared in 16 games, primarily serving as a depth player. He logged 46 offensive snaps and participated in 87 special teams plays, showcasing his versatility as a reserve offensive lineman. His role has been described as an essential safety net for teams grappling with injuries on the offensive line.

Rapoport noted that Jones was brought in to bolster the Seahawks’ offensive line, which struggled significantly during the 2024 season, leaving quarterback Geno Smith frequently pressured and limiting running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. The Seahawks are actively looking to refine their offensive line, with more signings anticipated in the coming weeks.

Jones played a pivotal role in supporting the Ravens’ top-ranked rushing offense last season, contributing to offensive plays as a reserve blocker. His performance in a demanding role has prompted Seahawks management to invest in further strengthening their offensive front as part of their offseason strategy.

In his overall career, Jones has participated in 76 games and made 24 starts, proving his capability to adapt to various lineups and schemes. His proficiency in both run and pass protection makes him a valuable asset to the Seahawks moving forward.
