Sean Casey Injured in Base-Running Mishap at Savannah Bananas Game

Cincinnati, OH — Former MLB player Sean Casey suffered a serious injury while participating in a Savannah Bananas game at Great American Ball Park.
Casey, a Hall of Famer and beloved fan favorite, was injured while running the bases during the event. According to Jim Day from the Fanduel Sports Network, Casey appeared to injure himself as he rounded first base. The crowd had been cheering him on when he suddenly grabbed his hamstring.
Day commented on the broadcast, noting Casey’s age: “It is real when you’re running and you’re 51 years of age. He got a massive ovation.” Initially, Day thought that Casey was playfully exaggerating his struggle due to his age, saying, “I thought he was just playing to the crowd.”
However, it soon became clear that the injury was severe. Day revealed, “Turns out he completely tore his hamstring. He completely tore the hamstring off the bone.” Casey will undergo surgery later this week.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Day expressed admiration for Casey’s spirit, saying, “Took one for the team. … We wish Sean Casey the best. That’s a tough one right there.”
Casey has shared updates on his injury via Twitter, reassuring fans of his recovery efforts following the surgery.
