Seattle Seahawks Shock Fans with Quarterback Drafting Decision

RENTON, Washington – The Seattle Seahawks surprised fans by drafting a quarterback in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager John Schneider has long expressed interest in selecting a signal-caller, but the team had not made a move until now.
With the addition of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, the Seahawks’ quarterback situation has become competitive. The team recently signed Sam Darnold to be their starting quarterback, but Darnold will face competition from veteran Drew Lock, who is set to be the number two option.
During an interview last week, coach Mike Macdonald informed Darnold of the team’s plans to draft a quarterback, emphasizing that the decision was not a reflection on him. “This is about acquiring an impact player,” Macdonald said.
Darnold’s performance in the upcoming season will be critical, as the Seahawks can move on from his contract after one year if needed. Meanwhile, Howell, the previous third-string quarterback, has been demoted following Lock’s signing.
Milroe’s selection marks the team’s first investment in a quarterback since taking Russell Wilson in 2012. He is expected to fight for the third-string position behind Darnold and Lock. Milroe’s athleticism stands out in the group, but he must refine his game, especially in decision-making and accuracy.
<p“If he can grow in those parts of his game, Milroe’s absurd speed and arm power will give him all the potential he needs to develop into a Pro Bowler someday,” said a source within the team.
As the Seahawks gear up for the 2025 season, the quarterback competition is heating up, leaving fans eager to see how the new roster dynamics unfold.
