Jesús Ferreira Seattle Sounders Fc Dallas Trade

RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Sounders FC announced Wednesday the acquisition of forward Jesús Ferreira from FC Dallas in a blockbuster trade. In exchange, FC Dallas receives midfielder Léo Chú, $1 million in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), $500,000 in 2026 GAM, and up to $800,000 in additional GAM if performance metrics are met, along with a 2025 International Roster Slot. Ferreira, a two-time MLS All-Star and 2022 MLS Best XI selection, joins Seattle after eight seasons with FC Dallas, where he scored 53 goals and 34 assists in 163 regular-season appearances.

Ferreira, 24, has also been a key player for the U.S. Men’s National Team, scoring 15 goals in 23 appearances since his debut in 2020. He was part of the USMNT roster at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and played a pivotal role in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, scoring seven goals in five matches, including back-to-back hat tricks. His versatility and goal-scoring ability make him a valuable addition to the Sounders’ attacking lineup.

“We’re very excited to bring Jesús to Seattle. He’s a player who not only brings a great deal of talent but also complements the strengths of our existing roster,” said Sounders FC General Manager & Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel. “His creativity and movement will enhance our ability to break down defenses, and we’re confident he’ll be a valuable contributor to the team’s success moving forward.”

Ferreira’s journey to MLS stardom began in FC Dallas’ academy, where he signed as a Homegrown Player in 2016. He quickly rose through the ranks, earning accolades such as the 2022 MLS Young Player of the Year and becoming the second player in league history to record 30 goals and 20 assists before turning 22. Despite battling injuries in 2024, Ferreira’s track record as a prolific scorer and playmaker remains intact.

Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer expressed enthusiasm about Ferreira’s arrival, stating, “Jesús’ technical ability and eye for goal will make him a real asset in our attacking setup. His movements in the attacking half and finishing ability inside the 18-yard box are exactly what we need to elevate our game.”

As part of the deal, FC Dallas retains a percentage of any future transfer fee if Ferreira is moved outside of MLS or within the league. Meanwhile, Léo Chú, who recorded seven goals and 14 assists in 94 appearances for Seattle, heads to Dallas. The Brazilian winger was instrumental in the Sounders’ 2022 Concacaf Champions League victory and leaves behind a legacy of energy and passion on the pitch.

The Sounders will kick off their 2025 campaign in Concacaf Champions League action against Guatemalan side Antigua GFC on February 19, followed by their MLS regular-season opener against Charlotte FC on February 22 at Lumen Field.
