Ottawa Senators Vs Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Game

OTTAWA, Canada — The Ottawa Senators fought hard to keep their playoff hopes alive with a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 4 on April 26, 2025. Jake Sanderson scored the decisive goal, securing the Senators’ first triumph of the series, which the Maple Leafs lead 3-1.

With the game tied at two entering the third period, the Senators took the lead through a goal from Tim Stützle. However, the Maple Leafs equalized five minutes before the end of regulation, forcing the game into overtime. Ottawa’s defense held strong during a five-minute power play against them in OT, setting the stage for Sanderson’s game-winning shot.

Captain Brady Tkachuk, reflecting on the win, expressed relief and gratitude for the support from the crowd at the Canadian Tire Centre. “What a goal, what a timely goal,” he said. “To do it in front of this unbelievable fan base, it’s an unbelievable moment.”

In a post-game interview, Senators goaltender Anthony Stolarz praised his teammates’ resilience. “I like where our game is at,” he said, showing confidence heading into Game 5.

Sanderson, who scored his first career playoff goal, noted that killing the four-minute penalty provided momentum. “Honestly, a great screen by Zetterlund to get traffic in front and I don’t think [Stolarz] saw it,” he said.

The Leafs were without John Tavares during critical moments following an injury but had dominated earlier in the series. The Senators will aim to level the series in Game 5, set for Tuesday night in Toronto.
