Sergio Ramos Scoring First Goal With Monterrey

MONTERREY, Mexico — Spanish defender Sergio Ramos scored his first goal with C.F. Monterrey during a match against Santos Laguna on March 2, 2025, in the 10th round of the Liga MX Clausura tournament.

Ramos netted the goal in the 57th minute, which temporarily put Monterrey ahead 2-1 at the Estadio BBVA. After receiving a cross from Sergio Canales on the right flank, Ramos managed to get his head on the ball and directed it into the net, eliciting cheers from the home crowd.

This was Ramos’s second appearance for Monterrey since joining the team, having previously played against Atlético de San Luis in round eight of the tournament. In that match, he participated for 79 minutes but did not score.

“I’ve been eager to contribute to the team, and getting this goal means a lot to me and to our fans,” Ramos said after the match. “We need to keep pushing forward, and I hope this is just the beginning.”

Prior to scoring, Ramos had made a notable effort to secure a goal, missing a close chance just a few minutes earlier. His persistence paid off, and once the ball hit the back of the net, the stadium erupted in celebration with fans chanting Ramos’s name.

The goal not only showcased Ramos’s aerial ability but also highlighted his importance to the team as they strive to compete for the top positions in the league. Monterrey is known for its strong fan base, which showed immense support throughout the match, celebrating every moment of the game.

Ramos’s transfer to Monterrey, a move that shocked many fans, has raised expectations given his illustrious career with Real Madrid and the Spanish national team. His addition to the squad aims to bolster Monterrey’s defensive strength while also providing leadership on the pitch.

“Having a player of Sergio’s caliber adds not just quality but also experience,” said Monterrey’s coach Martín Demichelis. “His ability to score and defend makes him a valuable asset to our team.”

As the tournament progresses, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Ramos continues to adapt to Liga MX and contribute to Monterrey’s campaign.
