Seth Curry Expresses Desire to Stay with Hornets Amid Rebuilding Phase

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Seth Curry, an 11-year NBA veteran, expressed a strong desire to remain with the Charlotte Hornets despite the team’s struggles this season. Currently sitting at 17-51 and in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, Curry believes there is a bright future for the franchise.

“It’s a dream come true to play for the Hornets,” Curry told Forbes in an exclusive interview. Born in Charlotte, Curry grew up as a fan of the team, thanks in part to his father, Dell Curry, who remains the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.

“I knew when I signed up to come back last summer that it would be a rebuilding process,” Curry admitted. “The motivation for me is to be a professor. To try and lead the guys and show them my work ethic and what it got me to be able to play 11, 12 years in the league. So, it’s more about building good habits than just wins and losses right now.”

Curry’s role as a mentor is invaluable, especially as the Hornets nurture young talent, including LaMelo Ball. Curry praised Ball’s ability to engage fans, comparing it to that of his brother, Stephen Curry. “The flair that Ball plays with and how the young kids and the fans just gravitate to him, even though we aren’t winning much, is very similar to how Stephen is received in opposing arenas,” he explained.

The veteran isn’t just focused on the present; he also sees talent in players like Brandon Miller, whom he forecasts as a future All-Star while emphasizing the team’s potential if not for the injury struggles they’ve faced this season. The Hornets rank second in the league for games lost to injury, according to Spotrac.

As Curry approaches unrestricted free agency this summer, he remains hopeful about the future. “I feel like I have a purpose on this team. I would love to come back. Obviously, I want the team to improve and make some good moves in the offseason,” he said.

Off the court, Curry is pursuing his interests, including a partnership with Bush’s Beans, promoting a campaign that allows fans to create personalized cans with their favorite family recipes. As part of this initiative, he shared his family recipe for ‘Curry Caviar’—a bean-based dish that his family enjoys during March Madness.

While Curry continues to thrive personally and professionally, the Hornets face an uphill battle this season. Their recent games have highlighted their challenges, including a tough loss to the Miami Heat, where they struggled despite some early momentum.
