Fc Juárez Querétaro Sandstorm Match Delay

CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico — The Liga MX has postponed the highly anticipated match between FC Juárez and Querétaro originally scheduled for April 19, 2025, due to a severe sandstorm and strong winds affecting travel plans in Ciudad Juárez.

In a statement released on April 18, the Liga MX cited “causes of force majeure” for the delay, confirming the match will now be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, with the exact time still to be determined. The match was set to take place at 19:00 at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez.

“The decision is made as a result of the weather conditions in Ciudad Juárez, where a sandstorm and strong gusts of wind have prevented the timely transfer of the Gallos Blancos team to the city,” the league stated.

The Querétaro squad, which includes their first team as well as Sub 23 and Sub 19 teams, remained stranded at León airport, unable to board their originally scheduled flight on April 18 at 14:30. Efforts are now underway to rebook a flight for April 19, with part of the team traveling to Monterrey before continuing their journey by land.

This encounter is pivotal for FC Juárez, currently positioned ninth with 24 points. A win could advance them into the eighth position and a chance to compete in the Play-In “A” round. On the other hand, Querétaro, sitting at 14th with 17 points, is out of playoff contention but aims to complete their schedule.

The rescheduling adds to the significance of Jornada 17 of the Torneo Clausura 2025, where every point is crucial as teams fight for playoff eligibility. With eight games remaining in the season, anticipation builds among fans about whether FC Juárez can leverage their home-field advantage or if Querétaro can defy expectations despite their season’s challenges.

The Liga MX has advised fans to stay updated for new match details. The safety of players and staff remains the league’s highest priority as they manage the disruptions caused by the adverse weather.
