Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Several Counties

FLORENCE, S.C. — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place for Florence, Robeson, Williamsburg, Dillon, Marion, Columbus, Georgetown, and Horry Counties until 5 p.m. on June 8.
The main threats include damaging wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Tornado activity is not expected, but an isolated brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
A broken line of showers and storms is moving through the Pee Dee and Border Belt regions, tracking from west to east this afternoon. The showers and storms are expected to be fully offshore by the watch’s expiration time.
According to the National Weather Service, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch indicates conditions that are favorable for severe weather. Residents are advised to have multiple ways to receive alerts during this period.
Meanwhile, in southeastern Arkansas, a storm system is pushing through, affecting parts of southern Arkansas, southwestern Tennessee, and northern Mississippi. A severe thunderstorm watch was also issued in those areas. Storms are expected to arrive in Memphis by noon and move eastward throughout the afternoon.
Officials say the storms could bring damaging winds, large hail, and a slight risk for tornadoes as they push southeast toward Alabama.
Residents should remain vigilant and keep an eye on weather updates as forecasts evolve, particularly into Monday, when additional storm risks are anticipated.
