Central Florida Storm Prediction April 2025

ORLANDO, Fla. — Severe weather is expected to impact Central Florida tonight as a potent squall line moves south from Tallahassee, potentially bringing strong thunderstorms to the region. The threat is particularly acute for areas north of Orlando, where conditions may produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

According to First Warning Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi, the storm system is anticipated to reach Central Florida between 8 p.m. and midnight. “The line of storms is weakening, but we still expect strong weather, particularly in Marion and northern Sumter counties,” Mainolfi said. “There remains a tornado watch in effect northwest of Central Florida, and we are monitoring the incoming weather closely.”

The squall line, which originated in the Gulf region, has already weakened, yet the potential for severe storms still exists. “There’s a considerable amount of heat in place, which could fuel the remaining storms,” Mainolfi noted. Residents are advised to stay vigilant throughout the evening.

In addition to the severe threat, some areas to the southeast, such as Titusville and southern Brevard County, are experiencing lighter rainfall, which includes some heavy downpours earlier today. However, those storms are likely to diminish as the night progresses.

As Central Florida prepares for the impending weather, the latest updates from the First Warning Weather team emphasize the importance of preparedness. Residents are encouraged to download the WESH 2 News app for real-time weather alerts and updates.

Impact Weather conditions are defined as potentially disruptive to travel and daily activities, while a Severe Weather Warning Day suggests conditions that could endanger life or property.
