Shaedon Sharpe Portland Trail Blazers Player

Portland, Ore. — Shaedon Sharpe is beginning to show why he is considered vital for the Portland Trail Blazers‘ future. After a slow start to the season, marked by injury setbacks, the fourth-year guard has recently delivered impressive performances, raising hopes for the team.

On a recent episode of the We Like the Blazers podcast, hosts Conor Bergin and Brandon Mullen dissected Sharpe’s recent resurgence. Sharpe’s first five games saw him average only 17 points with a shooting percentage of 32.6%. However, in his last six games, he has stepped up, scoring an average of 24.5 points while shooting 54.5%. “He’s been on a heater these last two games, averaging 33 points on 69% shooting,” Mullen noted. “That is what the Blazers need and want from Shaedon Sharpe.”

The hosts discussed how Sharpe’s earlier struggles might have stemmed from a calf injury and an unofficial minutes restriction. Mullen pointed out that despite these challenges, Sharpe has shown consistent aggression on the court. “Shaedon Sharpe has had no fewer than 14 field goal attempts in all of his 11 games,” Mullen said. “That shows he is being assertive.”

Conor added that this aggressiveness is crucial for Sharpe to achieve consistent production. They emphasized how his efforts are leading to improved outcomes for the team. While acknowledging that the data represents a small sample size, they both agreed that Sharpe’s growth is encouraging.

Aside from Sharpe, the podcast also highlighted Deni Avdija, who has been instrumental in clutch moments for the Blazers. “Deni’s been the Blazers’ closer lately. In the last six games, he has averaged 10.2 points on 68.8% shooting in the fourth quarter,” Bergin observed. “Whenever the game is in doubt, it seems like Deni steps up.”

The Trail Blazers, now holding a 6-5 record, continue to seek ways to improve and build momentum as the season progresses. Fans are eager to see how Sharpe and Avdija will contribute moving forward.
