Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Talks About Andrew Nembhard’s Performance
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently shared his surprise over teammate Andrew Nembhard‘s impressive performance during the Olympics. After Canada secured a tough win against Spain, Gilgeous-Alexander revealed, “I didn’t know he was this good!” He praised Nembhard’s hard work, composure, and versatility on the court.
Nembhard shone brightly in the game, scoring 18 points with an 8-for-10 shooting record, which helped Canada advance to the playoffs of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Gilgeous-Alexander, who acknowledged Nembhard as the most surprising talent on the team, was all smiles when talking about Nembhard’s abilities.
In a light-hearted comment, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked if his mother would be attending the Olympics to support him. He laughed and said, “Nah, she’s seen me enough playing basketball!”
The 26-year-old star is participating in his first Olympics and maintains a close bond with veteran player Chris Paul. Their friendship began during their time together with Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019-20 season. When asked about advice from Paul, Shai smiled and replied, “Nothing at all,” highlighting that despite the lack of guidance, his focus remains solely on winning.
Gilgeous-Alexander is determined to bring home a gold medal, stating, “I don’t want to lose. 6-0.” The team seems to be on the right path, showcasing strong performances and teamwork as they aim for Olympic glory.
