Sharaputdin Magomedov Aims to Break UFC Record for Most Fights in a Year Despite Challenges
UFC middleweight star Sharaputdin Magomedov, known as ‘Shara Bullet,’ is making waves in the MMA world with his ambitious plans and remarkable resilience. The one-eyed, red-haired Russian fighter has maintained a perfect undefeated record and is determined to become a UFC superstar.
Magomedov has already fought twice this year and is set to face Armen Petrosyan at UFC 308 this Saturday in Abu Dhabi, marking his third fight in just five months. Despite this intense schedule, Magomedov is not satisfied and plans to ask UFC President Dana White for another fight before the end of 2024, provided his upcoming bout goes well.
The Russian fighter’s goal is to break the UFC record for the most fights in a calendar year. Currently, the record is held by twelve fighters who have each fought five times in a year. To break this record, Magomedov would need to fight six times this year, a feat that seems highly unlikely given the remaining time and his physical constraints.
Magomedov’s one eye, which makes him ineligible to be sanctioned by many Athletic Commissions in the USA, adds an extra layer of complexity to his ambitions. However, he has been informed that he might be eligible to fight in some US states with special agreements.
Despite these challenges, Magomedov draws inspiration from former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who won the title despite being blind in one eye. Magomedov is confident that he can become a UFC champion in the future.
